Testimonials from former students

When I announced that I was starting this project in Spain, many of my former students volunteered to help out by recording testimonials. These are totally unscripted, so here are some of my students' experiences in their own words.

Chris — Colombian banking professional

Chris studied English in Colombia, but working in an English-language office was surprisingly challenging. We focused on his presentations, pronunciation, and grammar flexibility, improving his ability to communicate with his co-workers.

Nana — English school owner

Nana runs an English language center in Bangkok, Thailand. It's sad to say, but it's common for even university English professors to make serious mistakes in their grammar and usage. So, I help Nana to explain those errors in a clear and authoritative way.

Purevmaa — Mongolian professional translator

I taught Purevmaa in the tiny town of Murun, Mongolia, where I served as a volunteer for the U.S. Peace Corps. I'm proud to say that many of my students there have succeeded in studying abroad and building successful, international careers.

Zaw Ye — Myanmar English language coach

Zaw Ye was one of my students at the American Center in Yangon, Myanmar. I left Myanmar amid the Rohingya genocide, and before the military coup destroyed the vestiges of democracy there, but I'm proud of all my students there.

Charles — Myanmar English teacher in Malaysia

Another of my great students from Yangon. I'm proud of Charles for becoming an English teacher, and I think he's a great example of how learning English is about more than just communication with native speakers—it's how a Burmese person talks to a Malaysian, it's how a German communicates with a Brazilian. It's the international language!
